Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) at Prototype Projects uses a single material: PA 2200 CarbonReduced (Matrix PA12 CR), a sustainable polyamide 12 powder with a well-balanced mechanical property profile. It is available with overnight, 3, 7 and 12-day production speeds, and with a full range of finishing options.
PA 2200 CarbonReduced combines a 45% reduced CO2e footprint compared to standard PA Nylon 12 with mechanical properties equivalent to PA 2200, making it a responsible choice without compromising on performance.
PA 2200 CarbonReduced is a polyamide 12-based SLS material with a well-balanced property profile suited to a wide range of applications. Processed at 100μm layer thickness, it delivers a practical combination of mechanical performance, surface quality and dimensional accuracy across varying part geometries and production requirements.
The material offers high strength, stiffness and long-term dimensional stability. Parts have good chemical resistance and are biocompatible according to EN ISO 10993-1 and USP/level VI/121°C, making them suitable for medical applications including surgical cutting guides and anatomical models. PA 2200 CarbonReduced is also approved for food contact in compliance with the EU Plastics Directive 2002/72/EC.
Note: due to the layer-by-layer production process, SLS part properties are to some extent direction dependent. Build orientation should be considered during design.
Build volume: up to 194 x 242 x 320 mm (Z axis). Machine: EOS P1.

After cleaning and visual inspection, SLS parts can be finished with a range of options including lacquering to seal surfaces, SLS surfacing, dyeing (via our SLS dyeing service), blackout/RFI/EMC coating to internal surfaces, and secondary assembly operations such as threaded insert fitting.
For the full finishing options list, see the 3D Printing Finishing page. SLS parts are available with overnight (next working day dispatch), 3, 7 and 12-day production speeds.
