Location: Royston, Hertfordshire
Terms: Permanent, Full-time, 10-hours/day – 4 days a week. 6.00am-4.30pm with half hour unpaid lunch, totalling 40 hours a week. 21 days Holiday, plus bank holidays (pro-rata to shift). Government Auto Enrolment Pension (age related enrolment). SSP sick pay

This is a unique opportunity to join the CNC department involved in making prototypes for design consultancies. The work is fast paced, where most jobs are one offs, or short production runs that are unique, or new designs. We therefore require our CNC operators to be quick thinking, able to problem solve and have insight. Have an ability to work to short time scales and effectively self-time manage.
We value hard work, creativity, and attention to detail, in a relaxed, informal environment.
You will report to the CNC Team Leader.
After a period of supervision, when skills have been validated, you would work autonomously and under your own initiative to run programs provided by our internal programmers as per their instructions.
With H&S as a priority, you would add the correct tools, run, and monitor computer-numeric-controlled machines in a safe manner. You will be working with a mixture of metals and plastics, so experience doing this would be beneficial.
Your work will need to be of a high standard. The resulting parts made need to be visibly checked and most will be inspected by our internal quality inspector prior to dispatch.
You will ensure that the machines are operating correctly and that pieces are cut to perfection.
You will be expected to operate at least two machines ensuring maximum production is achieved during the day and unmanned night runs. Your skills would be monitored and recorded over time.
If directed to do so, you may be asked to perform maintenance on the machines. You would also be responsible for your own work area, and help as a team to maintain the whole CNC department, by keeping it clear of rubbish, spills wiped, clean and tidy so that it complies with H&S.
Teamwork is essential; you need to be willing to work with colleagues to make improvements for the department, developing new ideas or methods in engineering to increase efficiency/quality. In addition, get your own work completed in time, and offer help to others to complete theirs.
You would need to have a good work ethic with tasks not outlined in your job description, such as pack, tidy store cupboards, stock take, unpack supplies and other tasks specified by the CNC Team Leader to get work completed on time.
Demonstrate working to the values of the company.
Experience setting and operating CNC Mills – Fanuc/HAAS & Heidenhian controls

Strong organisation skills

Have the right to work in the UK requirements.
