Rapid Prototyping Technician – Team Leader
Due to internal promotion we now have a position of team leader within our Rapid Prototype & Model Making Workshop.
As a team leader you will liaise directly with the RP Workshop Manager and ensure that all orders/projects are completed in the time allocated and to the highest quality.
You will lead a team of seven people of mixed capabilities. You will be required to work with each team member to develop skills and ensure that the team can cover all aspects of project work.
Required experience
This role will suit a person that has 5-10 years’ experience within a busy model making and rapid prototyping Workshop.
- Model preparation and finishing
- Vacuum Casting
- Master preparation
- Silicon tooling set up
- Vacuum Casting Machine
- Trimming moldings
- Inspection
- Paint spraying to high gloss detail
- Assembly
- Customer liaison
- Final inspection

Salary range
£30k – £35k per annum

3D Printing CAD Technician
This position has been created due to the increase in workload within our busy 3D Printing department, as we offer several service levels for our clients which gives us the greatest flexibility to meet their needs.
We require an experienced 3D Printing CAD Technician to join our team. The role will be ideal for someone who has been working with 3D Printers. Ideally, you will have experience with SLA and SLS, however, if you have been using filament or Polyjet printers, then internal training will be given.
Your will be supervised by the 3D Printing Manager; however, you will be required to work autonomously and be able to use your own initiative. We are always working to tight timescales, so the ability to work under pressure is essential.
Required experience
This role will suit a person that has at experience using multiple 3D printing technologies and is experienced in checking and fixing models for 3D printing.
Base skills required
- 3D CAD Model:
- Interrogation
- Fixing
- Support generation
- Build planning and scheduling
- Build file preparation and sending to machines
- Post 3D Print part processing would be an advantage, but not essential as training can be given
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work under pressure
- Organised
- Excellent computer skills
- Work as part of a team as well as alone
The ideal candidate will have used and be proficient with Materialise Magics software.
Beneficial skills
- Ability to use CAD software, such as Fusion 360 or Solidworks
- Ability to use CorelDRAW X7 or newer
- Ability to read and understand drawings and tolerances

Super-economy: use our My 3D AM service for instant quoting and ordering of SLS and SLA parts which are not urgent.
Quote requests: we process all quote requests and orders between 8.00am and 5.00pm on business days. Quote requests received between 8.00am and 4.00pm are usually responded to on the same day. This does, however, depend on the complexity of the requirement. Quote requests received after 4.00pm will be responded to on the following business day.
Express dispatch: for CNC Machined parts for dispatch in 3 working days, subject to criteria. All final data for our Express Service Level is required by 4.30pm to guarantee next working day dispatch. We also offer Standard, Economy and Super-Economy service levels.
Quote requests: we process all quote requests and orders between 8.00am and 5.00pm on business days. Quote requests received between 8.00am and 4.00pm are usually responded to on the same day.
