Prototype Projects supports eg technology on the Orion Enuresis Monitor

Prototype Projects is pleased to announce that it has provided advanced prototypes of the new Orion Enuresis Monitor to product design and engineering consultancy eg technology Ltd ahead of the Medica trade fair in Dusseldorf, the world’s largest annual medical trade fair.

Enuresis is the medical name for bedwetting, which is very common in young children and can also be prevalent in older children. Enuresis monitors are designed to trigger an alarm when the child starts to urinate, helping to train them to wake, visit the toilet and so avoid wetting the bed.

Significantly, the Orion Enuresis Monitor is completely wireless, provides data-logging for accurate treatment and is designed to look and function like an alarm clock to reduce embarrassment and increase user acceptance. Orion is eg technology’s first internally designed and developed product, and long-time prototyping partner Prototype Projects was involved from the start of the product development process.

eg technology initially asked Prototype Projects to provide a concept model of the Orion Enuresis Monitor. The monitor is a bedside unit containing an alarm that is triggered by a small wireless sensor which attaches to the child’s night time underwear with a simple clamp.

On approval of the initial concept prototype, eg technology proceeded to the functional prototypes and decided to exhibit at the Medica show at which the Orion Enuresis Monitor was introduced to a commercial audience in November 2013 to great acclaim.

The 3D printed models were manufactured on one of Prototype Projects Viper SLA machines, and were fully hand finished to look and feel like the production models.
