Possibilities for Prototype Part Finishing: Part 2
Last month we wrote about the various options and possibilities on offer for finishing your prototype part, ranging from manual trimming to spray painting – plus the options for various types of surface texture.
If you missed that article you can find it here
We had a number of follow-ups from customers interested in seeing examples of the different finishes that can be achieved at Prototype Projects – so with a little help from our photographer we’ve produced some product shots that illustrate the options.
The shots below show the finishes achievable with SLA parts starting with basic and ranging through standard and detailed to a fully customised finish with bespoke decals or images.
All the parts and finishes were created at Prototype Projects.
Basic finish
Build-layer step lines visible, good conceptual “A” surface finish for early concept parts
Build-layer step lines not visible, bead-blasted for a better presentation quality
Fully finished with a primered surface – grey or white
Detailed finish
Fully finished parts with textured finish
Detailed gloss finish
Fully finished with a 2-tone gloss finish, although any combination of finish available – textured, matt, satin or gloss
Detailed bespoke finish
Fully finished, including branding images, matched colours, rubdown transfer or vinyl stickers
The range of finishes illustrated here is just a small selection of what is possible. In fact, the options are (almost) limitless as any of the following elements can be fully customised to client specification:
- Tinting
- Surface texture and smoothness
- Branded colour matching
- Coating
- Functioning elements
