Supporting the Ventilator Challenge efforts
In our last update, we celebrated our CNC Team who have risen to the Ventilator Challenge in the face of adversity. In this article, we focus on our Sales team. You wouldn’t be alone in wondering how our Sales team is supporting the Ventilator Challenge efforts, but they are just as crucial as everyone else.
Our Sales Team
In the days, weeks, months and years before the world changed into one of lockdown and social distancing, our Sales team would manage quote requests, process orders, pass jobs to the relevant teams to build the prototype parts and then manage the dispatch of the completed parts.
In that sense, the work of Hannah Game, Adam Sharkey and Gary Turner hasn’t changed.
How they work and where they sit has changed. Gary is holed up in Unit 2 with half of our Rapid Prototyping team, while Hannah and Adam are in Unit 1 with the other half of the RP team and the CNC team.
But while this separation of our teams is vital in ensuring our staff remain safe and well, it’s not the only thing that’s changed.
Sourcing essential supplies
The work of our customers has changed; understandably, their focus is on ventilator development and other PPE. A change in customer focus wouldn’t normally impact us, after all, the technologies we use are industry-standard and capable of producing high-quality parts, quickly.
What has impacted us is the sourcing of materials from our suppliers. Some of our suppliers are unable to operate, and those who are, are struggling to keep up with the unprecedented demand.
Unphased, Hannah, Adam and Gary have worked tirelessly to source these essential materials from new suppliers.
Their huge effort in this has not been in vain.
They have found suppliers who have been able to fulfil our needs which, in turns, means we continue to be able to fulfil the needs of our customers.
While we don’t want to detract attention from the hugely important work of our customers in the Ventilator Challenge, nor of our incredible NHS, we can’t help but feel proud of how our teams continue to support the fight against COVID-19, albeit behind the scenes.
The little things
It’s important to remember that, when the last prototype of the day has been dispatched and the machines have been programmed to run overnight so we can begin again tomorrow, our teams are made up of real people.
They, like everyone, need to unwind when they get home and so we couldn’t help but share what we like to call the little things. When our fantastic Sales team get to their homes tonight, take a moment to think of:
Adam, who will be unboxing his latest purchase: a remote-controlled car…
Gary will be adding a little light to his garden in the form of his newly acquired bamboo oil lamps.
And Hannah, who knows she sounds ‘old’ just saying this, will be starting a new cross stitch – but it does say ‘Home Sweet Home’ which is quite apt in these times!
On that note, please join us in thanking Hannah, Adam and Gary for their sterling efforts. We really couldn’t do it without them!
