The Return of Injection Moulding at Prototype Projects
We’re excited to announce that Injection Moulding is once again available as part of our prototyping and low-volume production services.
Designed for customers who need functional parts, production-quality results or repeatable short runs, Injection Moulding is a natural fit within our prototyping and manufacturing capabilities. Whether you’re testing a design ahead of mass production or need a batch of parts with tight tolerances and high-quality surface finish, we’re here to support you from tool design to final part.
Bringing it back into the fold
Prototype Projects has offered Injection Moulding in the past, so this isn’t entirely new territory – but it is a significant step forward. With fresh investment in tooling capability and a refined approach that reflects today’s needs, the service has been brought back better than ever.
The addition complements our full in-house prototyping line-up, which already includes SLA, SLS, DLP, PolyJet, Micro 3D Printing, Filament 3D Printing, CNC Machining, Vacuum Casting, Model Making, and Laser Cutting.
Designed for flexibility
Injection Moulding is ideally suited to customers who need small production batches, pilot runs or bridge tooling between prototyping and full-scale manufacture. We can produce parts in a wide range of engineering plastics using aluminium or steel tools, designed and machined in-house for complete control over quality and lead time.
If your part isn’t quite ready for moulding, we’ll provide Design for Manufacture (DFM) guidance to help you make the necessary design tweaks. Once the part is finalised, we’ll model the tool in CAD, split the part into core and cavity, and cut the tool using our CNC machining centres. From there, it’s on to sampling, validation and production.
Upload your CAD. We’ll do the rest.
As with our other services, Injection Moulding projects can begin with a simple CAD upload. If you’re working to tight development timescales or need to assess moulded part performance ahead of final production, we’re ready to help.
For Injection Moulding projects, we recommend arranging a meeting with our team as early in the process as possible. This could save you time, reduce cost and help avoid last-minute design changes – especially if you’re new to the process.
