Prototype Design Support

prototype design

While Prototype Projects is, first and foremost, a prototyping and model making bureau, we also provide an in-house prototype design support service.

Who is the Prototype Design Support service for?

This service provides add-on resource for design engineers and product designers working in established design consultancies needing additional prototype design expertise.

It is also ideal for those who have an idea and need assistance with concept development through to prototyping.

As part of our in-house prototype design service, we can work from first principles of mechanical engineering right through to complex production mould tooling.

Our small in-house prototype design support team use PTC Creo® and Solidworks® to create, manipulate and develop intricate component design and large assemblies.

Please contact us to discuss how we can help with your next project.

Industrial Prototype Design

Ensuring that a product’s physical form is aesthetically pleasing as well as easy to use are both important elements of design engineering. The term for this is industrial design. The size, colour and form are also basic elements of industrial design.

As a minimum, it is also important to ensure designs conform to one of three styles:

  • Conservative or classic
  • Contemporary or fashionable
  • Influential or innovative

Product design

Intuitiveness plays a key part in product design. We are mindful that, in today’s modern world, consumers want instant access and immediate use and have reduced concentration, among other things. As such, this is reflected in our design work, from concept sketches right through to pre-production prototypes.

Of course, in determining a robust foundation of any design, proof of principle is critical. This development is based on sound engineering and innovative applications and ideas. As the majority of our work focuses on prototyping, we are ideally placed to prototype proof of principles.

Prototype Design Support

Our design support service is complemented by our model making and prototyping expertise.

With 37 years of experience behind us, we have developed a strong in-house offering for our customers. Not only do we work in the medical device, automotive and industrial sectors, we also work with product designers enabling them to bring new products to market.

Our 3D Printing suite comprises many technologies:
