RIM – Reaction Injection Moulding
Reaction Injection Moulding (RIM) can be used to produce prototype parts of all sizes from buttons to automotive bumpers and casings for medical equipment such as scanners and X-Ray machines. It is a fast and cost-effective method for delivering low-volume quantities of injection molded prototype plastic or resin parts.
At Prototype Projects we create soft tooling, usually via a master, and produce Polyurethane (PU) parts. Tooling can be made from Silicon, GRP or created using our CNC process from resin board for longer tool life.
The range of resin formulations available for RIM mean that a huge range of physical and performance properties can be produced to mimic the production materials required, from rigid to fully flexible, clear to colour and with heat resistance or flame retardance.
